Ah, Hooky’s “other” side project, the much hated and maligned Revenge. Why people reacted to this band so violently, I’ll never know. This song is really great. Yes, it is a complete rip-off of New Order’s more subdued side, but hundreds of bands have used that sound and nobody ever gives them shit for it.

No, not New Order, but Monaco, Hooky’s side band. Nice video with some super nice fantasy art.

Back in the day (the mid 90s, y’all) I was stuck between fearing, hating and lusting after Riot Grrls. Most of them were bagel bumpers (at least until they graduated college) so the lust part was out-of-the-question, but I always wanted to be Riot Grrl’s Corin Tucker. Or, more to the point, I wanted to […]

This is a preview for next month’s musical theme. Songs that will play during my trip to Texas. Wanna guess what it’ll be? 😉

Man, this album is gonna be great. I say that because I’m pre-dating these a month beforehand. I’m sure I’ll have heard the entire album before this goes live (oh wait… it won’t come out until Tuesday the 24th, cough cough, no, I won’t hear it for another two days, cough cough). I’m loving it. […]

Everybody needs a bit of Jandek in their lives. Even if you find this hard to listen to at first, the more you listen the more used to it you get. The more used to it the more you want to hear.

This video makes me want to visit the upper peninsula. Michigan is a beautiful state, but I’ve never been further north than Detroit, which is to say, not far at all. This song sounds like loneliness to me.

It’s really amazing how many penis metaphors Andy Partridge can write into one song. Also, any song that talks about “green skinned girls” is ace in my mind.

“Throw the switch, it’s rock’n’roll time…”
