I think it’s suggesting that we gun collectors (or gun nuts, if you will), should have numerous brands of guns in our collections. So they can coexist.

The non-gun nuts probably won’t understand.

There were times when she was actually cool, but she’d go on REALLY bizarre tangents. When she did she expected affirmation from the entire class and she’d get really pissed if she didn’t get it. Woah unto those who disagreed with her. It would be hilarious in a South Park-esque way if she didn’t have the power to pass and fail students.

I almost reported her a few times since it was obvious she’d give bad grades to the people who did have the nerve to disagree. But I didn’t because I knew the rest of the English department would view me as an enemy. They do tend to stick together. I understand that to a point, but I’d also hope they could objectively judge a colleague’s poor behavior. Basically I figured out which subjects to avoid and write about “safer” things. Not a good way to go through college, but I wasn’t going to get an F just to make a point.

It is funny how homogeneous the crew really is who teach at universities. I didn’t have the experience of too many professors trying to shape my thinking, but rather they saw things through their own filter which by and large was a similar filter to most of their other colleagues. Guess it is a certain type who is attracted to that job or who crave to be part of the institutional milieu. Hope you never do get that professor. She sounds awful.

Yep. That’s the one. I love how the armchair warriors can be so dismissive of the quite reasoned responses and input of the 3-4 active and ex soldiers who’ve actually been there.
