I get the feeling the following description (along with yesterday’s) will make me sound like a hater, but that’s not true at all. Monster is not a bad album, just average. I’m not sure what it is about it, probably the production rendered it kind of limp.

One of the few songs I love is called “I Don’t Sleep, I Dream.” I like the dirty, hazy feel of the song. And even if the lyrics are a bit TMI coming from Stipey, I can forgive it.

Yup, it’s going to be an all R.E.M. month. Despite releasing yet another disappointing post-Bill Berry album last month, I still love these guys. Even their recent albums have had a few songs worth listening to. And I really loved Up and parts of Reveal but not Accelerate or that other one that I still believe wasn’t really them.

Anywho, I’d argue that Lifes Rich Pageant was a pretty mediocre album. I remember when I got into these guys about 20 years ago and started buying these on cassette (I’m old school, y’all), this one really disappointed me somehow. BUT… BUT… I really love this song a lot. I saw the Cuyahoga River once, but sadly it wasn’t on fire. Oh to have been alive in the early 70s…

I hasten to call this “Links of the Day” because it suggests I will be doing it every day, ala Song and Eye Candy of the Day. This might happen, it might not. I guess we’ll find out Sunday morning… I did this the evening of the 1st, so I apologize if any of these stories are already out-of-date.

Well, that should keep you busy for a while, eh?

Kohoutek is one of REM’s most beautiful songs, despite being the most difficult to pronounce. According to wikipedia the comet Kohoutek will pass by the earth in approximately 75,000 years. If I’m still alive then and I don’t see it I will be very unhappy.

Back to cartoon girls and a monthly theme. Since I’m doing all R.E.M songs this month, I thought I’d do a month of Holo. Or Horo. She might be over 600 years old, but she doesn’t look a day over 18.

Well, another month gone by. Hopefully the smut made it go by quicker. Or in some way better.
